BYU's basketball team will travel a long way to face a familiar foe in late November. The EA Sports Maui Invitational Bracket was announced on Wednesday morning, and BYU has drawn former MWC rival San Diego State as its opening-round opponent in Maui. The games will be played at the Lahaina Civic Center in Hawaii from Nov. 24-26. BYU's game against SDSU will tip off at 9:30 p.m. MST on ESPN2. The BYU-SDSU winner will meet the Pitt-Chaminade winner on Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. MT on ESPN. Losers will play on Nov. 25 at 2:30 p.m MT on ESPN2. It will be BYU's first trip to the Maui Invitational since 2004, when it opened against No. 1 North Carolina in Steve Cleveland's final year. Other opening matchups include Purdue vs. Kansas State and Missouri vs. Arizona. The Cougars also appeared in the Maui Invitational in 1992. They are 3-3 all-time at the event. BYU returns 80 percent of its scoring from last year, including WCC Player of the Year Tyler Haws and his 23.2 average. San Diego State is also 3-3 at the Maui Invitational, having played there in 1989 and 2003. Three of the top four scorers return from a team that won 31 games last year. BYU's home game against Arkansas-Little Rock on Nov. 18 at the Marriott Center is actually considered a Maui Invitational game.
