Ogden • Former Weber State linebacker Anthony Morales has signed a rookie free agent contract with the NFL's Carolina Panthers.

Morales, who is from Edmond, Okla., participated in Carolina's mini-camp in May. He was a three-year captain and All-Big Sky Conference selection at Weber State. In 40 games with the Wildcats, he recorded 342 tackles — fifth on the school's all-time list.

Carolina opens its preseason schedule Aug. 8 against Buffalo.
