Administrators of the Utah Sports Commission and the PGA Tour may have to find an alternative site for the 2015 Utah Championship.
Renovations at Willow Creek Country Club, which has hosted Utah's Web.com Tour stop for 16 years, may create logistical issues, said Jeff Robbins, CEO of the Utah Sports Commission.
The commission has two years remaining on its contract with the PGA Tour to operate the event. There is precedent both for the tour's working around construction and for finding a temporary venue for one year, Robbins said Monday.
He plans to talk with tour administrators in the next two or three weeks to review the 2014 event that concluded Sunday and to look ahead. By then, he hopes to learn more about Willow Creek's timetable and plans for the work to be done around the clubhouse.
"Can they host a PGA Tour-related event with all the infrastructure you need to host it? I don't know the answer to that," Robbins said.
The Web.com Tour (originally the Ben Hogan Tour) has brought its tournaments to two Utah courses: Provo's Riverside Country Club from 1990-96 and Willow Creek from 1999-2014.
As part of this year's tournament, $45,000 was raised for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation during the third annual "Pink on the Links" promotion Saturday, the Utah Sports Commission announced. The three-year total is more than $100,000.
