The legend of Chuckie Keeton continues to build, even after the Utah State quarterback spent most of last season injured.

Keeton was named to the Maxwell Award watchlist Monday, awarded to the best player in the college ranks each season. Keeton tore his ACL and MCL in the Aggies’ loss to BYU last season, missing the last eight games of the season.

However, Keeton showed major flashes of talent in the first six games of the season, tossing 18 touchdowns and rushing for two more along with 1,388 passing yards.

The Utah State passer was one of only two Mountain West players to make the watchlist, along with Boise State runningback Jay Ajayi.

Aggies linebacker Kyler Fackrell was named to the Bednarik Award watchlist, given annually to the best defensive player in college. Fackrell anchored the Utah State linebacker corps last season, racking up 13 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles and 82 tackles last season.

Fackrell is one of two Mountain West players to make the Bednarik list, along with Fresno State safety Derron Smith.
