Sacramento pitcher Arnold Leon avenged his only defeat of the season Saturday night.

Leon scattered four hits over five innings, leading the River Cats to a 13-4 victory over the Bees at Smith's Ballpark.

Leon improved his record to 6-1. His only loss came in the opener on April 3 against Salt Lake.

After scoring single runs in each the first four innings, Sacramento took control of the game with three more in the fifth.

With one out, Bees' starter Joel Piniero walked Nate Freiman. Shane Peterson followed with a single before Michael Taylor cleared the bases with a double to left. Jose Martinez' RBI single gave the River Cats a 7-2 lead.

Salt Lake and River Cats close out their four-game series Sunday at 1 p.m.

It is not known if Grant Green, who was optioned to Triple-A by the parent Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, will play for Salt Lake.

Green was called up by L.A. on May 2. In 22 games, he hit .359. But it wasn't enough. The Angels decided to send him down instead of C.J. Cron or veteran Raul Ibanez.

Of course, Cron is a former University of Utah star who also started the season with the Bees.

"Every player on our roster has pluses they bring to our team," Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia told MLB.com. "But right now, C.J.'s really hitting well in the clutch [and] he's providing some first-base depth. ...

"I think that the element of power is also something that C.J. can bring. You never know what needs your club's going to have from week-to-week but, right now, we feel like this is the best roster to move forward with."

Cron's reaction to remaining with the Angels?

"They make decisions at any moment, really," he said. " So you have to continue to play baseball and help the team."

The Angels were forced to option Green back to the Bees because they recalled pitcher Cory Rasmus. In his last three appearances with Salt Lake, he pitched five hitless innings while striking out five and walking one.

When the Green-Rasmus moves are officially announced by the Bees, they will be the team's 99th and 100th player transactions of the season. —
