West Valley City • The Utah Grizzlies will open the 2014-15 season on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Idaho Steelheads at the Maverik Center, the ECHL announced Wednesday.
Utah's 72-game schedule will include 14 against Colorado and 13 against Idaho and Bakersfield.
The Grizzlies will play 23 of their 36 home games on Friday and Saturday nights. They will play two holiday matinee games one against Ontario on Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 19) and one against Idaho on President's Day (Feb. 16).
Utah will play 19 of its first 36 games on the road, but will play 13 of 16 at home during a stretch from Feb. 25 to April 4.
The Grizzlies will also make a rare journey into the Eastern Conference. They play at Cincinnati (Dec. 3) and Wheeling (Dec. 5-6).
