Fayetteville, Ark. • Utah’s Rosalie Waller and Ali Eisenbeiss are one step closer to qualifying for the NCAA outdoor track and field championships in Eugene, Ore., next month.
Waller and Eisenbeiss both reached the semifinals of the 800 meters at the NCAA West Preliminary on Thursday. Waller won her heat in 2:07.51 and Eisenbeiss finished in 2:07.89.
BYU’s Shea Martinez also advanced to the semifinals with second-fastest qualifying time (2:05.98).
On the men’s side, Utah State’s Nic Bowens won his heat of the 100 (10.28) to qualify for the semifinals.
BYU’s Mark Carlson (50.99) and Korey Smith (51.46) both qualified for the 400 hurdles semifinals. In the 10,000, Jason Witt qualified for nationals in Eugene by finishing 12th in 29:41.30.
