Tooele • Three-time AMA champion Josh Hayes roared to an easy victory Sunday in the Superbike Shootout's Arai Mountain Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park.

Hayes, who was the fastest qualifier, completed 16 laps on MMP's West Course in 25:20.242 to defeat David Anthony and Chris Ulrich.

Anthony finished 12.928 seconds behind Hayes. Ulrich trailed by 22.575 seconds.

In the pro sportbike division, Garrett Gerloff was the winner. He completed 20 laps in 30:19.863 seconds. J.D. Beach was 10.469 seconds behind in second place.

The Superbike Shootout is a non-sanctioned three-race series founded by John Ulrich. It was created to fill an 11-week gap in the AMA's sanctioned road race schedule.

Hayes' win at Miller Motorsports Park was his first in three tries in the series, but it was good enough to give him the Superbike Shootout mini-season championship.
