Salt Lake Bees pitcher Brandon Lyon has opted out of his contract and left the club, the team confirmed Tuesday.

Lyon, 34, attended Taylorsville High School and Dixie State.

In his 12-year major league career, Lyon has appeared in 572 games with six teams. His record is 42-47 with 79 saves.

This season, Lyon struggled.

In 172⁄3 innings with the Bees, he was 0-6 with an earned run average of 4.08. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Monday night's 15-9 loss to Albuquerque.
