Utah hoops adds Highland’s Connor
College basketball • Utah announced Tuesday the addition of walk-on Jake Connor, a Highland High standout who has a close relationship with one of the Utah coaches.
Assistant Tommy Connor was a four-year starter at point guard for the Utes and led them to four straight Western Athletic Conference championships.
"Jake has always been someone around our program since Tommy is a member of our staff. Now, Jake officially joins our basketball family," coach Larry Krystkowiak said.
Connor led the Rams to the quarterfinals of the 4A tournament in March. Connor was an honorable mention 4A coaches’ team selection and shot 45 percent from long range.
"He is a driven, hard worker that will enhance our program because he represents everything we want in a student-athlete," said Krystkowiak. "We’re excited to have him join us."
Connor joins Austrian center Jakob Poeltl, Idaho point guard Isaiah Wright, Roy small forward Brekkott Chapman, Michigan small forward Kyle Kuzma and Citrus College junior transfer power forward Chris Reyes as new Utes.
