college basketball • Aaron Gordon and Nick Johnson are leaving Arizona for the NBA.

Gordon was named the Pac-12 freshman of the year after averaging 12.4 points and 8 rebounds per game. Johnson, a junior, earned numerous All-America honors and the Pac-12 player of year award. Johnson led Arizona with 16.3 points per game last season.

• California hired Tennessee's Cuonzo Martin as its coach Tuesday. Martin replaces Mike Montgomery, who retired last month. Martin went 63-41 in three seasons at Tennessee, including a 24-13 mark and an appearance in the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament this season.

Ex-Titan Johnson visits with Jets

NFL • Former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson visited the New York Jets on Tuesday. Johnson was released by the Titans on April 7. Johnson, 28, rushed for 1,000 yards in each of his first six seasons. He rushed for 2,006 yards in 2009.

• The San Francisco 49ers have signed receiver Brandon Lloyd to a one-year contract. San Francisco selected Lloyd in the fourth round of the 2003 draft. He was a member of the 49ers from 2003 to '05.

Exonerated coach returns to old job

COLLEGE FOOTBALL • The former football coach at Minnesota State, Mankato said that he will return to his old job this week after an arbitrator ruled he was wrongly fired and should be reinstated. Todd Hoffner was fired in May. His dismissal came after he had been accused of having pornographic images of his children on a work-issued cellphone. Hoffner was hired in January as head coach at Minot State.
