The Utah Grizzlies close out the regular season with three home games this week, starting Wednesday night against Las Vegas.
Depending on how they fare against Las Vegas on Wednesday and in a weekend series against Idaho, the Grizzlies can end up anywhere between third and fifth in the ECHL’s Western Conference.
Grizzlies wrap it up
All games start at 7 p.m.
Wednesday — Las Vegas
Friday — Idaho
Saturday — Idaho
Finishing third or fourth would translate into home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
One win in their final three games will give the Grizzlies 37 this season — their most since the 2002-03 season.
Utah is also on track to shatter the team record for fewest goals-allowed in a season.
The Grizzlies have given up 167 goals in 68 games — an average of 2.45 per game. The previous record was 220 goals during an 82-game season, or an average of 2.68. That happened in 1999-2000 and 2000-02, when Utah played in the International Hockey League.
This week’s three games all start at 7 p.m. at the Maverick Center.
