BRUINS 4, COYOTES 2

GLENDALE, Ariz. • The Boston Bruins rallied with three third-period goals, the go-ahead score by Shawn Thornton with 3:18 to play, to win their 12th in a row, 4-2 over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night.

The Bruins are two shy of the franchise mark of 14 straight set in the 1929-30 season. They also have the most points in the NHL with 103, two more than Western Conference-leading St. Louis.

Jarome Iginla scored his 27th and 28th goals of the season for Boston, the second with an empty net in the final seconds.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson had a spectacular goal to put Phoenix ahead 2-1 in the second period. Shane Doan scored the other Coyotes goal on a power play. The loss snapped Phoenix's three-game winning streak.

FLYERS 4, BLUES 1

PHILADELPHIA • Scott Hartnell and Brayden Schenn scored in the second period, and the Philadelphia Flyers rallied to beat the St. Louis Blues for their fifth straight victory.

The Blues clinched a playoff berth despite the loss when Boston defeated Phoenix on Saturday night.

Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds added goals, and Steve Mason made 32 saves to help Philadelphia improve to 12-2-1 in its last 15 games to maintain its hold on second place in the Metropolitan Division.

Jaden Schwartz opened the scoring 6:23 in, finishing a 2-on-1 short-handed opportunity.

Ryan Miller lost for the second time as a member of the Blues since being traded from Buffalo on Feb. 28.

PENGUINS 4, LIGHTNING 3, OT

PITTSBURGH • James Neal's power-play goal 1:27 into overtime lifted Pittsburgh to a wild victory over Tampa Bay.

Neal's slap shot over Anders Lindback's right shoulder capped a frantic final 15 minutes of play as the teams traded the lead three times.

Evgeni Malkin had two goals and two assists, and Sidney Crosby added a goal and two assists for the Penguins, who have won nine straight over the Lightning. Jeff Zatkoff stopped 21 shots and Pittsburgh ended Tampa Bay's five-game winning streak.

Steven Stamkos, Valtteri Filppula and Ondrej Palat scored for the Lightning, who have earned at least one point in eight straight games. Lindback made 25 saves.

RED WINGS 3, WILD 2

ST. PAUL, Minn. • Gustav Nyquist's third-period goal helped Detroit top Minnesota for its fourth win in five games.

Jimmy Howard made 28 saves, and Brendan Smith and David Legwand each scored on a power play for the Red Wings, who were in a 2-for-25 slump with the man advantage until getting goals on both of their opportunities against the Wild.

Mikko Koivu gave the Wild an early lead, on a power play, and Charlie Coyle tied the game on a penalty shot. But the Wild, clinging to a wild card spot in the Western Conference race, fell to 2-3-4 in nine games since the trade deadline.

STARS 3, SENATORS 1

DALLAS • Trevor Daley and Jamie Benn scored third-period goals to help Dallas rally for a victory over Ottawa.

The Stars snapped a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) and sent the Senators to their sixth consecutive defeat (0-5-1), tying Ottawa's longest skid this season.

Jordie Benn had two assists for the Stars. Cody Eakin had tied the game with a second-period goal. Kari Lehtonen made 26 saves in his second game since returning from a head injury sustained on March 11 in Dallas' previous victory.

Erik Karlsson netted Ottawa's goal in the first period.

Jamie Benn reached 30 goals for the first time in his five NHL seasons.

Robin Lehner made 39 saves against Dallas, which had a 42-27 shots advantage.

KINGS 4, PANTHERS 0

LOS ANGELES • Jonathan Quick broke the Kings' record for goalie wins, making 24 saves in his fifth shutout of an injury-hampered season as Los Angeles beat Florida.

Trevor Lewis, Mike Richards, Alec Martinez and captain Dustin Brown scored for the Kings, who completed their five-game homestand with back-to-back wins after three straight one-goal defeats.

Quick earned his 172nd career victory and surpassed Rogie Vachon. The shutout was the 30th of Quick's career, two shy of Vachon's franchise mark.

The Kings recorded their 11th shutout, tying the franchise record set two seasons ago.

Los Angeles scored on three of its first 13 shots against three-time All-Star Roberto Luongo, who finished with 25 saves.

The Panthers, who have lost nine of their last 10 against Los Angeles, played their first game at Staples Center since Dec. 1, 2011.

RANGERS 2, DEVILS 0

NEWARK, N.J. • Henrik Lundqvist made 21 saves in posting his Rangers record 50th NHL shutout, and New York improved its playoff chances with a victory over the fading New Jersey Devils.

Rick Nash scored his team-leading, eighth game-winning goal and Derek Stepan added an empty-net, power-play tally with 8 seconds left to give the Rangers their third straight road win.

New Jersey lost for the fifth time in five games and is in danger of missing the playoffs for the second straight year.

Lundqvist was in goal for the Rangers' 3-0 road trip over five nights, including a 3-1 win at playoff-hopeful Columbus on Friday night. Lundqvist, already the winningest goalie in Rangers history, broke a tie with Ed Giacomin for the shutout mark. It was his fifth blanking this season.

Martin Brodeur made 25 saves for the Devils.

CANADIENS 4, MAPLE LEAFS 3

TORONTO • Tomas Plekanec scored the go-ahead goal just as a power play expired midway through the third period, and the Montreal Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A little over nine minutes into the third period, James van Riemsdyk was penalized for goaltender interference when he steamrolled into Carey Price. But replays showed that Montreal defenseman Andrei Markov knocked van Riemsdyk into Price. Plekanec scored short side exactly two minutes later.

Max Pacioretty, Rene Bourque and Brian Gionta also scored for the Canadiens, who won for the fourth time in five games.

Joffrey Lupul, Tyler Bozak and Nazem Kadri had goals for the Maple Leafs, who have dropped four straight.

HURRICANES 3, JETS 2

WINNIPEG, Manitoba • The Carolina Hurricanes scored three straight goals in just under three minutes in the second period and held on for a win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Jim Slater scored his first goal of the season 7:48 into the second to give Winnipeg a 1-0 lead.

But Eric Staal responded 37 seconds later with his 17th goal to tie it. Jordan Staal followed his brother with his 15th of the season on a power play, and Riley Nash scored his ninth for the Hurricanes at 11:18.

Hurricanes defenseman Andrej Sekera had a pair of assists, giving him 31 on the season to go with 11 goals.

Bryan Little scored his 21st goal for Winnipeg 1:27 into the third period, but the Hurricanes were able to hold off the Jets for the win.

FLAMES 8, OILERS 1

EDMONTON, Alberta • Curtis Glencross had a hat trick and Matt Stajan scored on a penalty shot and added three assists as the Calgary Flames scored four times in just over three minutes in the second period to cruise past the Edmonton Oilers.

Mike Cammalleri, Mark Giordano, Paul Byron and Kevin Westgarth also scored for the Flames, who have won four of their last six and are 26th overall in the NHL standings.

Jeff Petry had the lone goal for the Oilers, who have lost two in a row and remain in second-to-last place in the league.

CAPITALS 3, SHARKS 2, SO

SAN JOSE, Calif. • Nicklas Backstrom scored the winning goal in the shootout to lead the Washington Capitals to their first win in San Jose in more than 20 years.

Eric Fehr and Chris Brown scored in regulation for the Capitals, who had lost 11 times and tied once since winning their first game at the Shark Tank on Oct. 30, 1993. This is only Washington's second win in its last 19 games overall against San Jose.

Braden Holtby made 34 saves in his first start since March 6 in place of the banged-up Jaroslav Halak.

Patrick Marleau and James Sheppard scored for the Sharks, who missed a chance to clinch their 10th straight playoff berth. Antti Niemi made 23 saves.
