wrestling • Penn State won its fourth consecutive NCAA wrestling title, holding off Minnesota 109.5-104 on Saturday night in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma State placed third with 96.5 points, Iowa was fourth with 78.5 and Edinboro (Pa.) fifth with 62.

Penn State's Ed Ruth won his third national title, beating No. 1 seed Jimmy Sheptock of Maryland 7-2 in the 184-pound final. Sheptock entered with a 32-0 record.

Penn State's David Taylor closed the night by defeating Oklahoma State's Tyler Caldwell 6-0 in the 165 final to finish with his second national title and a 34-0 record.

Penn State is coached by Utahn Cael Sanderson.

Serena advancesat Key Biscayne

TENNIS • Serena Williams overcame some sloppy play Saturday in Key Biscayne, Fla., to reach the fourth round at the Sony Open by beating Caroline Garcia 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Bidding for a record seventh Key Biscayne title, Williams had 41 unforced errors but finished strong. She served out the final game at love with the help of consecutive aces.

Stanislas Wawrinka bounced back from his first loss of the year by beating Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Wawrinka, who won the Australian Open in January, improved to 14-1 this year. His lone defeat came to Kevin Anderson last week in the fourth round at Indian Wells..
