Orem • Holton Hunsaker scored 16 points and Mitch Brunell scored seven of his 14 in the final 2:25 Friday night, leading Utah Valley to a hard-fought 64-55 victory over Bakersfield at the UCCU Events Center.
The Wolverines (19-10, 13-3) clinched the Western Athletic Conference's regular-season championship with the win. They will be the No. 1 seed in the league tournament next weekend in Las Vegas.
Utah Valley owned a 37-21 lead with 19 miniutes remaining, but Bakersfield used a 25-4 run to take a 46-41 lead. The Wolverines went 11:37 without a field goal.
With 2:25 remaining, however, Bruneel's three-pointer gave Utah Valley a 52-50 lead. His layup 55 seconds later made it 54-50. Bakersfield never got closer.
