Logan • It was a bittersweet night for Jarred Shaw, one in which a loss overshadowed a strong performance against one of the nation's best shotblockers.

Shaw went toe-to-toe with UNLV's Khem Birch, scoring 20 points and adding 12 rebounds, but he could not power Utah State to a win. The Aggies lost a 3-game winning streak Saturday afternoon in the 73-62 defeat to the Rebels.

Shaw's first thoughts after the game were on his and his team's shortcomings rather than his high-scoring night.

"I thought we played really hard, we just had some defensive slippage," he said.
