Utah battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a point in the standings, but the Grizzlies came up short in a shootout and lost 3-2 to the Ontario Reign in ECHL action Sunday in Ontario, Calif.
Jamie MacQueen got the Grizz on the scoreboard with a 5-on-3 power-play goal with 4 seconds left in the second period. The goal was MacQueen’s 16th of the season, and he was assisted by David Vallorani and Vinny Scarsella.
Vallorani then tied the game for Utah with his 17th goal of the year with 10:22 left in regulation, with assists from Danick Paquette and Phil Mangan.
Grizz goaltender Aaron Dell stopped 26 of 28 shots before the shootout, in which Ontario’s Maxim Kitsyn was the only player to convert.
