Doug McDermott scored 32 points — 11 during a 14-2 run after DePaul pulled within a point in the second half — as No. 12 Creighton beat the Blue Demons 78-66 on Friday night in Omaha, Neb.

The Bluejays (19-3, 9-1 Big East) have won 14 of their last 15 games. DePaul (10-14, 2-9) has lost six in a row.

DePaul, which trailed by 14 in the first half, closed to 59-58 after dominating the boards early in the second half. But the Blue Demons managed only three field goals in the last 7 ½ minutes.

No. 6 Villanova 70,Seton Hall 53

James Bell scored 20 points and JayVaughn Pinkston had 19 to lead the Wildcats to their fifth straight victory Friday night in Villanova, Pa.

Villanova coach Jay Wright reached 400 career wins. He has won 278 games at Villanova (2001-present) after winning 122 at Hofstra (1994-2001). Wright has been to 10 NCAA tourneys with Villanova, including the 2009 Final Four.

Daniel Ochefu had 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Villanova (21-2, 9-1 Big East). Sterling Gibbs led Seton Hall (13-10, 4-6) with 16 points.
