Zurich • FIFA President Sepp Blatter wants to clamp down on players who feign injury during soccer games.

In his column in FIFA weekly, which will be published on Friday, Blatter says it is "deeply irritating" when "the (supposedly) half-dead player comes back to life as soon as they have left the pitch."

Blatter is urging referees to make these players wait on the touchline until the "numerical disadvantage has had an effect on the game."

The head of soccer's governing body says "in practical terms this amounts to a time penalty — and it could cause play-actors to rethink."

There have been 13 yellow cards for diving in the English Premier League so far this season.
