Las Vegas • If Kaycee Feild captures a third straight world bareback championship, his performance in Round 7 of the $6.25 million Wrangler National Finals Rodeo might end up being the key.

Feild, who is from Spanish Fork, posted a score of 83 points and won the seventh round Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Feild's first victory at this year's NFR enabled him to move him into first place in the average standings and maintain his lead in the overall world championship race.

Caleb Bennett of Morgan did not place after posting a score of 73.5 points.

Another Utah cowboy hit the jackpot in Round 7.

Jake Wright of Milford won the saddle bronc event with a score of 84.5 points. Like Feild, he also earned $18,629.

For Wright, it was his third win at the NFR. He moved into third place in the average standings and surged ahead of his brother, Cody, in the overall world championship race.

Cody Wright finished in a tie for fourth place with a score of 79.5. Another Wright brother, Jesse, failed to post a score.

In the final event of the night, Payson's Steve Woolsey failed to complete his eight-second bull ride and did not place.
