The Baltimore Ravens activated tight end Dennis Pitta on Saturday, one day before their game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Pitta had been on injured reserve with a designation to return while working back from a dislocated and fractured hip that he suffered during training camp in late July.

Pitta's workload is likely to be limited against the Vikings, but he could provide a spark to a Ravens passing game that has struggled this season.

The former BYU star, who had 61 receptions for 669 yards and seven touchdowns last year, returned to practice Nov. 20 and was more active this week.

"I bumped my workload a little bit this week just to kind of test and see where it's at," Pitta said Friday. "And like I said, it felt good. I feel like I'm able to do what I need to do."

Cowboys linebacker Lee set to return

Dallas linebacker Sean Lee is set to return at Chicago after missing two games with a hamstring injury and cornerback Morris Claiborne will sit for a second straight game with the same issue.

Lee was listed as probable Saturday after fully participating in practice all week. Claiborne was ruled out for Monday night's game against the Bears.

Lee strained a hamstring in a 49-17 loss to New Orleans, and the Cowboys beat the New York Giants and Oakland without him. Claiborne was injured against the Giants.

Rookie linebacker DeVonte Holloman appears ready to return after missing six games with a neck injury. He practiced all week.

Chargers add Ingram to roster

The San Diego Chargers have moved Melvin Ingram from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to the active roster.

Ingram, the Chargers' first-round draft pick in 2012, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in May. He was designated to return to practice on Nov. 19 and the team had until Tuesday to either add him to the active roster or keep him on PUP for the remainder of the season.

Linebacker Adrian Robinson was released to make room for Ingram.

Ex-NFL assistant Idzik dies at 85

John Joseph Idzik, a former NFL assistant coach and father of New York Jets general manager John Idzik, has died. He was 85.

The Jets, citing information released by the family, announced Saturday that Idzik died of natural causes Tuesday at his home in Chadds Ford, Pa., with family members by his side.

A former baseball and football star at Maryland, Idzik served as the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1973-76 and the Jets from 1977-79. He was also an assistant with Miami and Baltimore, and later coached in the USFL.
