Fort Collins, Colo. • J.J. Avila scored a career-high 30 points and helped Colorado State to an 88-67 non-conference win over Weber State on Saturday.

Colorado State (2-1) led 41-27 at the half and Weber State did nothing to erase that deficit in the second half. Avila was perfect 9 of 9 from the free throw line and made 53 percent (10-19) of his attempts from the field —this after scoring just 2 points against Gonzaga last Monday. Daniel Bejarano added 18 points and 9 rebounds for the Rams. The Rams hit 54 percent of their shots from the field.

Weber State (0-2) committed 14 turnovers and made only 3 of 13 from the 3-point line as Colorado stymied the Wildcats offense. Jeremy Senglin scored 17 points, while Joel Bolomboy and Daylon Barry had 12 each.
