Kansas City at Buffalo, 11 a.m., Ch. 2 • The Bills are still without starting quarterback EJ Manuel. And now backup Thad Lewis has a rib injury and is doubtful to play. So Buffalo will start either undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel or Raiders washout Matt Flynn. And just like that, all those Chiefs fans concerned that Alex Smith never throws the ball more than six yards downfield are feeling pretty smug.
Second down
Philadelphia at Oakland, 2:05 p.m., Ch. 2 • Eagles RB LeSean McCoy recalled this week that, while a college player at Pitt, he tried recruiting Pennsylvania prep standout QB Terrelle Pryor, who ultimately committed to Ohio State. "We couldn't afford him," McCoy joked. Given the state of his current team's signal-caller situation, perhaps McCoy should make it a point to bump into Pryor and start a new round of recruiting.
Third down
Pittsburgh at New England, 2:25 p.m., Ch. 2 • Ben Roethlisberger vs. Tom Brady? Talk about your epic QB matchups … circa 2011. Hard to imagine then that, a mere two seasons later, both would be high-profile members of The Game Managers Club. This year, Big Ben has 8 TDs and 7 INTs. Brady has two TDs and two sub-200-yard efforts in his last four games. Of course, now that I've spoken ill of them, they'll throw for 450 yards and five scores apiece.
Fourth down
Indianapolis at Houston, 6:30 p.m., Ch. 5 • Back when the schedule was released, this game sure looked like it could be a battle for first place in the AFC South. Well, that worked about as well as the Tea Party's plan to de-fund the Affordable Care Act. Or about as well as the Affordable Care Act's sign-up website, for that matter. Whatever. Here's guessing the Case Keenum-led Texans offense works about that well vs. the Colts.
