Draper • Timpanogos coach Natalyn Lewis said she still thought her Timberwolves were capable of more after watching her team battle for a 2-0 win.

Lewis, who has guided the program to a pair of state titles in her time, would know. But after topping Mountain View in the Class 4A girls' soccer state semifinals Tuesday, she's trusting her team will play its best when it counts the most.

"It wasn't our best game, but perhaps we're saving our best for Friday," she said. "And I'll take that."

The Timberwolves clinched a berth in their fourth state championship game in five years by dismantling their Region 7 rival Bruins for the third time this season.

They took the lead on a loose-ball header by sophomore defender Imerida Williams in the first half, then all but sealed it with a hard shot by senior Rachelle Warner in the second.

The Timberwolves, one of the top 4A teams from wire-to-wire this season, had beaten Mountain View twice early in the season by a combined 10 goals to none. Lewis said she saw more fight from the Bruins this time around than in their final regular-season contest when the region standings already were set.

"I think there was more on the line," she said. "Today the game meant a lot to them, and they brought a much better game against us."

Still, Mountain View struggled to move it into Timpanogos' half, while the Timberwolves consistently were threatening. Several first-half shots by Timpanogos went wide, including a few off Warner's foot.

The fourth-year starter said she kept attacking throughout the game, trying to make sure she would get back to Rio Tinto Stadium for the third time in her career.

"I kept taking shots and I missed some," she said. "But I knew if I kept shooting and kept pushing, I'd get one."
