Abdoulie Mansally will miss Real Salt Lake's final two regular-season matches.
The RSL fullback was issued a one-game suspension — on top of the mandatory one-game suspension following a red card — as well as a fine by the MLS Disciplinary Committee Friday for his ill-timed tackle on FC Dallas midfielder Jackson in their
1-0 loss at D.C. United on March 9">1-1 draw Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Mansally received a straight red card on the tackle in the 15th minute, but the committee, "determined that his actions endangered the safety of his opponent and suspended him an extra game." Mansally will miss RSL's trek to take on the Portland Timbers at JELD-WEN Field on Oct. 19 and the regular-season finale against Chivas USA at Rio Tinto Stadium on Oct. 23
Mansally appealed the decision through the MLS Players Union but the Committee's decision was upheld.
After the 1-1 draw against FC Dallas, RSL head coach Jason Kreis said the red card was the appropriate call.
"It was a really rash tackle that was poorly timed and it really endangered the safety of our opponent," Kreis said. "That's a red card for me, and I don't have any issue with it."
"[Mansally] was just trying to make an aggressive play," Kreis said later. "Would I have liked to have him not do that? Sure, but hopefully next time we learn from it."
This is the second time this season the MLS Disciplinary Committee has reprimanded Mansally. He was suspended one match and fined early in the season following a yellow card received in the 61st minute in RSL's 1-0 loss at D.C. United on March 9.
