Hine gets a big return
Adam Hine, who has had three long kickoff returns called back by penalties, had a 90-yarder in the first quarter that wasn't called back, setting up BYU's first touchdown. He was later injured while blocking on a kickoff return and did not return to the game.
Hill almost on top
With a 50-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, Taysom Hill passed Virgil Carter (474 yards) for the second-most rushing yards in a single season by a BYU quarterback. Eldon Fortie's 1,149 yards in 1962 is the most.
Van Noy scores again
BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy earned two points for the Cougars in the first half when he tackled an MTSU running back in the end zone for a safety.
