Weber State women's freshman cross country runner Kelsey Braithwaite was named the Big Sky Conference Women's Co-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Braithwaite, a red shirt from Perry, earned the honor after leading the Wildcats during the season-opening Utah Open last Friday. She posted a time of 14 minutes, 22.4 seconds on the 4K course to lead the Wildcats and finish third overall in the meet. She finished third behind two All-Americans.

Braithwaite shared this week's Big Sky honor with Northern Arizona's Melanie Townsend.

The Wildcats will next be in action this Saturday at the BYU Invitational in Provo.
