Provo • Basketball coach Dave Rose had surgery Monday to have some cancerous spots removed, BYU announced.

Rose, who has undergone cancer screenings every six months since he was diagnosed with a pancreatic neuroendoctrine tumor in June of 2008, had the surgery at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital as part of his cancer treatment program.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Courtney Scaife.

"The surgery went well, the doctor said in a school news release. "I expect him to make a full recovery."

BYU said Rose is expected to be ready to coach when the Cougars begin official practices on Oct. 7 for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
