Lamar Odom is receiving treatment for issues related to his recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence but he has not entered a rehabilitation facility, two people close to the situation told the Los Angeles Times on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
Jeff Schwartz, Odom's agent, did not return a call Thursday seeking comment.
Odom, the former Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers player, has not been charged in connection with his arrest Aug. 30 after he was spotted driving his white Mercedes sport-utility vehicle erratically on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.
Odom's driver's license was suspended for one year after he refused to take chemical tests intended to determine his level and type of intoxication. He has retained famed attorney Robert Shapiro to represent him.
Shapiro is a longtime family friend of Odom's wife, Khloe Kardashian Odom, and served alongside Robert Kardashian, Khloe's father, as part of O.J. Simpson's legal team when a court verdict found the football star not guilty of the 1994 killings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
Shapiro has regularly represented clients seeking treatment for drug addiction since his son Brent died from chemical dependence disease in 2005.

Clippers • Los Angeles signed rookie Brandon Davies after the forward impressed the club in summer league play. The 6-foot-9 Davies spent the past four seasons at BYU, averaging 17.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists as a senior last year. He went undrafted, but averaged 5.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in five games for the Clippers' summer league team in Las Vegas.
Lakers • Los Angeles signed free-agent guard Xavier Henry, who played for New Orleans last season. The 6-foot-6 swingman appeared in 50 games for the then-Hornets, averaging 3.9 points and 1.8 rebounds.
Kings • Sacramento hired Hall of Famer Chris Mullin as an adviser to owner Vivek Ranadive and general manager Pete D'Alessandro. Mullin had been advising Ranadive in an unofficial capacity since the Silicon Valley software magnate bought the team in May. Mullin was the general manager of the Warriors from 2004-09.
