Keith Johnson of the Salt Lake Bees has been named the Pacific Coast League's Manager of the Year, it was announced Friday.
Johnson received the honor after voting by the league's 16 managers and media representatives from every PCL city.
The Bees own a 78-62 record heading into their final four games of the regular season. They have already clinched the Pacific North Division championship and will open the playoffs Wednesday night against Las Vegas or Sacramento.
It will be Salt Lake's first trip to the playoffs since 2008.
Johnson is in his third season as manager of the Bees. He previously spent two seasons managing the Class A Cucamonga Quakes and one season with the Class A Cedar Rapids Kernels.
His record in six seasons as a minor-league manager is 424-422.
During a 12-year playing career, Johnson spent seven seasons in the PCL, including his final two in Salt Lake City. As a infielder for the Bees, he batted .283 with 26 home runs and 120 RBIs.
