ECL :Grizzlies sign Pineault, Vallorani, Lee
West Valley City • The Utah Grizzlies have signed forwards Adam Pineault and David Vallorani and defenseman Martin Lee for the 2013-14 ECHL season.
Coach and general manager Tim Branham announced the additions to the club, which opens the regular season Oct. 18 against Idaho at the Maverik Center.
Pineault, 27, has 339 games of professional experience, including 201 in the American Hockey League and three in the NHL. He spent last year with the Central Hockey League champion Allen (Texas) Americans. He had 16 goals and 23 assists in 53 games.
"Adam's experience will be extremely valuable for our club," said Branham. "He is a proven winner and will be heavily looked upon this season on and off the ice."
Vallorani, 24, spent last season with the ECHL champion Reading (Pa.) Royals. He played for Branham, who was an assistant coach in Reading before being hired by Utah. Vallorani had 17 goals and 42 assists in 68 games.
"Having won the ECHL championship with David, I know what he brings to the table," said Branham. "He is extremely talented with the puck and will bring a lot of offense to our lineup."
Lee, 24, returns to the Grizzlies after playing the final 21 games with Utah last season. He was acquired in a trade with San Francisco and instantly helped stabilize Utah's blue line. The Grizzlies went 9-6-1-5 with the second-year pro on the ice.
"I'm excited to have Martin back," said Branham. "He is a big body who is capable of playing tough minutes for us. I look forward to working with him this season."
