Ogden beats Orem at home

Joey Curletta hit a two-run homer in the first inning to help the Ogden Raptors beat the Orem Owlz 7-3 in minor league baseball Wednesday night during a game shortened by lightning.

Orem leadoff hitter Mark Shannon put the visiting Owlz ahead 1-0 with a solo homer, and Michael Fish hit an RBI single to make 2-0.

But the Raptors scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning. They led 6-2 by the second inning after Curletta drove in his third RBI of the game with a double. He finished 2 for 4.

Adam Law hit two doubles and scored three times, and Jose De Leon allowed five hits in five innings to earn his first win of the season.
