Prep football two-a-days: Sky View
Sky View coach Craig Anhder is looking for a few more yards out of his running game that extra push from the line, that extra effort from his backs to push his Bobcats into the next level of success.
He just might have the personnel to do that this year.
"I think our offensive line is going to be real solid," Anhder said. "It will be the biggest offensive line I've ever coached, which is probably about standard size for most people."
And behind that line will be running back Dane Anderson, a senior who ran the ball well in spot duty for the Bobcats last year.
"He had an incredible offseason," Anhder said. "He just got stronger and faster."
Anderson is bench pressing 300 pounds and has been clocked at a 4.65 in the 40-yard dash.
"I wouldn't call him a blazer," his coach said. "But he's just so strong. You see him going against some of our big guys, and there's a fear in their eyes when he comes running at them. He's got good feet and decent moves, and then he lowers his head and very rarely is knocked backward."
Sky View returns quarterback Braxton Godderidge, who passed for 2,800 yards and 22 scores last season.
While Godderidge lost some of his favor targets from a season ago, the Bobcats' Logan Miller, Christian Fife and sophomore Bryce Mortensen should provide their QB with plenty of opportunities to build on a successful junior campaign.
On the defensive side of the ball, Sky View returns linebacker Robert Ercanbrack. Fife and Miller, meanwhile, will provide veteran leadership in the defensive backfield.
