Outfielder Peter Bourjos and starting pitcher Jason Vargas for the Los Angeles Angels will begin rehab assignments with the Salt Lake Bees beginning Thursday for the team's series at Round Rock.

Game time is 6:05 p.m. (MT). Vargas is expected to start Thursday.

In addition, the Angels have signed two-time all-star major league pitcher Dontrelle Willis to a minor league contract and assigned him to Salt Lake.

Bourjos, 26, was placed on the disabled list June 30 with a fractured right wrist. In 40 games with the Angels in 2013, he batted .273 with three doubles, two triples and three home runs. Vargas, 30, was placed on the DL on June 18 with a blood clot in his left arm. In 14 games, he was 6-4 with a 3.65 earned-run average with 62 strikeouts.

Willis, 31, joins the Bees after appearing in 14 games for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League in 2013. He went 5-4 with a 2.57 ERA and 52 strikeouts. A veteran of nine major league seasons, Willis has appeared in 205 games and compiled a 72-69 record with a 4.17 ERA and 896 strikeouts.
