NBA • Former Jazz point guard Mo Williams will sign a contract with the Portland Trail Blazers worth $5.6 million over two years, with a player option the second year, according to multiple reports.

Williams, 30, was drafted No. 47 overall by the Jazz in 2003 and later went on to be an All-Star with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He returned to the Jazz last season via a trade with the Clippers and averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 assists per game. However, he missed 32 games with a torn ligament in his right thumb, and 36 overall.

• Minnesota Timberwolves President Flip Saunders says the team "fully supports" the decision to send first-round draft Shabazz Muhammad home from the NBA's rookie transition program due to a rules violation.

Muhammad was sent home after bringing a female visitor to his hotel room Tuesday night. Players are required to get approval for guests from program officials. Muhammad also will be fined for the infraction, which was first reported by USA Today. He will have to go through the program next summer.

AC Milan beats Galaxy for 3rd place

Soccer • Mario Balotelli gave AC Milan fans a goal to savor, and then a cause for concern.

Balotelli and M'baye Niang scored first-half goals, and AC Milan earned a 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy in the third-place match of the Guinness International Champions Cup tournament Wednesday night.

Balotelli went down in the 79th minute, holding the back of his right leg around the knee area, though apparently was only cramping up.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a pair of dazzling goals, lifting Real Madrid to a 3-1 victory over Chelsea in the final.
