South Williamsport, Pa. • The organizers of the Little League World Series in central Pennsylvania are planning to tighten security in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings.
The Williamsport Sun-Gazette reports that on Monday the organization announced tighter security measures, including more security cameras and increased restrictions. Little League World Series festivities begin Aug. 14 and culminate with the Aug. 25 championship game.
Little League spokesman Brian McClintock says an assessment of security measures is done every few years, but that the organization decided to take a closer look after the marathon bombings.
He declined to say how many additional cameras would be installed. The organization is also increasing participating in the governor's Office of Homeland Security's campaign "See Something, Send Something."
