Poor start dooms Bees in loss at Tucson

Salt Lake scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the Bees' rally fell short in a seven-inning, 9-6 loss at the Tucson Padres in minor league baseball Sunday night.

Tucson (56-52) scored five runs in the second inning and two more in the third for a 7-2 lead. Bees pitcher Dustin Richardson was chased after allowing seven runs on seven hits in three innings.

Luke Carlin and Matt Long each went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Bees (61-47). Salt Lake had won seven straight games before Sunday night's loss. The Bees continue their road series at Tucson on Monday before returning home to face Iowa on Tuesday.
