Carson City, Nev. • OJ Simpson says he regrets the night he robbed two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room but adds he's been a model inmate while serving his time at a northern Nevada prison.

Simpson asked a two-member state panel Thursday to grant him parole on five charges. But even if parole is granted, he would still have to serve at least four more years in prison because of other sentences imposed for other charges.

The 66-year-old former NFL star and actor appeared before the panel via video from the Lovelock Corrections Center. A decision on whether to grant parole is expected next week.
