New York • San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Shea Salinas was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for elbowing LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane during a game last weekend.

Major League Soccer announced Salinas' punishment Wednesday.

The league says in a release that Salinas elbowed Keane 'above the shoulders' in the fifth minute of the teams' game last Saturday. A video of the incident appears to show Salinas hitting Keane in the head.
