Utah Valley's Michael McPherson and Maryn Pincock were named the 2013 Great West Conference Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year in a vote by the conference coaches.

McPherson, a sophomore from Parker, Colo., was a NCAA Qualifier in the long jump and 200m, placing 31st in the long jump and 44th in the 200m at the NCAA West Preliminaries. He was named the Male Outstanding Athlete at the GWC Outdoor Championships in early May and also took home Best Performance of the Meet recognition after he won the long jump, high jump and 4x100m relay, while taking second in the 4x400m relay, third in the 110m hurdles, fourth in the 200m and javelin and seventh in the 100m.

Pincock who was a repeat champion in the discus and shot putat the GWC Outdoor Championships, which the UVU women also won for the fifth consecutive year. The senior from Boise, Idaho, was a two-time NCAA Qualifier in the discus and placed 38th at the NCAA Prelims. In addition to her double gold at the GWC Championships, Pincock also placed fifth in the hammer throw.

The Wolverines will join the Western Athletic Conference in all sports other than wrestling on July 1.
