Mason Casper overcame a double bogey in each round to win the Richard C. Kramer Salt Lake City Amateur by one stroke Sunday at Bonneville Golf Course.

Casper, who recently completed his Utah Valley University golf career, shot 69-69 for a two-day total of 6-under-par 138 in his first tour of Bonneville. Former BYU golfer Zac Blair (70-69), playing in the second-to-last group, bogeyed No. 18 to fall out of a tie with Casper.

First-round co-leader Justin Keiley (68-72), another BYU golfer, tied for third with Rhett Rasmussen (70-70) and BYU teammate Mike Jurca (72-68). Jon Wright, the other co-leader, closed with a 73 and was in a group at 141 that included Scott Clark (71-70), Carl Jensen (70-71), Matthew Seppanen (72-69) and Kenny You (70-71).

Casper plans to turn professional in August or September, so this was his only shot at winning the City Am - one of the state's major tournaments, staged at an iconic venue.

Starting the final round one stroke back, he was 4 under for the day through five holes, but double-bogeyed the par-3 No. 6. "That had the potential to cost me, but I was able to battle back," he said.

Casper bogeyed No. 11 before recovering with birdies at Nos. 12 and 16.

Troy Creer (76-70) won the A Flight and Daemon Wathen (82-77) took the B Flight title.
