Surprising Chicago State stopped Utah Valley's bid for a fourth straight Great West Conference Tournament title with a 3-2 victory Tuesday at Bears & Eagles Stadium in Newark, N.J.

The loss ends the Wolverines' final season in the Great West Conference before joining the Western Athletic Conference this summer.

Utah Valley (24-30) trailed 1-0 after CSU's Mattingly Romanin doubled home Eric O'Brien in the first inning.

UVU's Kade Andrus doubled to begin the third and scored on a base hit by Greyson Bogden, tying the game at 1-1, which remained knotted until the seventh when Spencer Gothberg walked to begin the inning and scored on a double by Taylor Berg to put UVU in front, 2-1.

Chicago State (9-44) then scored the decisive runs in the eighth, with a bases-loaded single by Joelh Calixto and a throwing error which led to the winning run.
