Morristown, N.J. • New York Jets running back Mike Goodson has pleaded not guilty to drug and weapons charges in New Jersey.

Goodson appeared in court in Morristown on Wednesday morning.

He was arrested early last Friday along with a friend after they were found in a car stopped on Interstate 80. The men were charged with marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and weapons offenses stemming from a 45-caliber semi-automatic handgun that included a hollow-point bullet found in the vehicle.

Goodson's attorney said Wednesday his client realizes he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and is remorseful.

The 25-year-old Goodson played three seasons for Carolina and one for Oakland before the Jets signed him to a three-year, $6.9 million deal, which includes a $1 million signing bonus, in March.
