The Southern Utah women's volleyball team will do a lot of traveling before opening Big Sky Conference play at home against Weber State on Sept. 19.

Coach Debby Baker and the Thunderbirds begin the 2013 season Aug. 30 in Mobile, Alabama at a tournament featuring South Alabama, Georgia Southern, South Alabama and Tennessee State.

"This schedule will set up a really tough season for us," Baker said. "Our preseason will be really challenging, but it will help us prepare for the Big Sky when we compete in a league that ranks among the top half in the country."

Southern Utah then moves on to Omaha, Neb. for the UNO Volleyball Classic and to face SIU Edwardsville, Bradley and Nebraska Omaha. The Thunderbirds wrap up preseason tournament play at Las Cruces, N. M., to play Northern Illinois, Arkansas Little Rock and New Mexico State, Sept. 13-14.

The T-Birds open their Big Sky road slate at Sacramento State and Northern Arizona on Sept. 28 and 30, respectively.
