Salt Lake Community College cruised past Georgia Perimeter College in St. George, earning a 9-1 win in five innings in the first round of the NJCAA Division I softball national championship tournament. The No. 2-seeded Bruins jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and had 13 hits overall to Georgia Perimeter's two. MaCauley Flint pitched all five innings for SLCC, earning three strikeouts.

Six Bruins earned two hits each, and Whitney Holt led the group with four RBIs. Maddy Woodard had a two-run homer in the fourth to boost SLCC's lead.

SLCC next faces No. 10 seed Weatherford College on Wednesday.
