Las Vegas • The Summerlin Las Vegas Baseball Club has completed the purchase of the Las Vegas 51s and plans to move the Triple-A Pacific Coast League team to a new stadium to be built in the northwest suburb.

The joint venture of the Howard Hughes Corp. and Play Ball Owners Group announced Monday they've finalized the purchase from the Stevens Baseball Group.

The terms were not disclosed, but the Las Vegas Sun reported last year the sale price was $20 million.

Now affiliated with the New York Mets, the 51s currently play downtown at Cashman Field, the third oldest among the 30 Triple-A ball parks in the nation. It's lacking indoor batting cages, among other things.

The move to a proposed $50 million stadium in Summerlin could come as early as 2015.
