USU sophomore Chari Hawkins broke the school record in the women's high jump at the Western Athletic Conference championship in Arlington, Texas, with a height of 1.81 meters. She leads the heptathlon field after also winning the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.82 seconds, ranking her seventh in school history in the event. She also set personal records in the 200m (24.84 seconds) and shot put (11.34 meters). She ranked second and sixth in those events, respectively.

Softball

SLCC 5, Colorado Northwestern CC 2 • SLCC's softball team won its Region 18 Tournament opener in Twin Falls, Idaho, clinching a season sweep over the Spartans.

Sophomore MaCauley Flint earned the win for the Bruins with 10 strikeouts and no runs allowed in 62⁄3 innings. Sophomore Malia Campos went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI as the Bruins jumped to a 5-0 lead before allowing two Spartans runs in the top of the sixth inning.

No. 6-ranked SLCC will face No. 3-ranked Southern Nevada in the second round of the tournament on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
