Braden Anderson went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer for the Utes, but the Bruins pulled ahead for the 5-2 Pac-12 win in Los Angeles. Utah's Mitch Watrous allowed three earned runs and seven hits, striking out three in seven innings of work.
BYU 3, Loyola Marymount 2 • Jeff Barker threw a complete game with nine strikeouts to lift the Cougars to a win in Los Angeles. With the win, BYU improved to 24-7 overall and 10-7 in the West Coast Conference.
Northern Colorado 4, Utah Valley 2 • The Wolverines dropped the opener of their four-game Great West Conference series in Greeley, Colo. Stone Ramsey doubled and then scored on Mark Krueger's single to give UVU a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Northern Colorado pitcher Jake Johnson retired 16 of the next 18 UVU batters.
Utah 2, Washington 1 • Marrisa Mendenhall hit the walk-off double to hand the Utes a Pac-12 win. Mendenhall drove in both runs for the Utes in her fifth multi-RBI game this year.
BYU 14-4, Saint Mary's 6-3 • The Cougars dominated their first game and then squeaked past their West Coast Conference foe in the second game in Provo. The Cougars go up for another doubleheader against the Gaels Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Texas State 14-9, Utah State 0-8 • The Aggies were shut out their first game but nearly rallied in the second game of the day, coming back from an 8-0 deficit, in Logan. Utah State scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning in Game 2, but the Bobcats halted the rally in the top of the seventh.
Weber State 6-2, Northern Colorado 1-5 • The Wildcats split their Big Sky doubleheader in Greeley, Colo., giving up the chance for a second win when the Bears scored all five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
SLCC 6-9, Snow College 3-4 • The Bruins beat the Badgers twice in Ephraim, pushing SLCC's all-time record against Snow College to 6-0. MaCauley Flint earned the first win with eight strikeouts and just three hits allowed. Freshman Kailey Christensen won the second game with only one hit and no runs allowed in 42â3 innings.
