Foxborough, Mass. • Diego Fagundez ended New England's scoreless streak at 539 minutes and the Revolution beat the Philadelphia Union 2-0 on Saturday night.
New England (2-3-2) scored a goal in its season opener, but did not put the ball in the net in five-plus matches thereafter, having been credited with an "own goal" last week in a match last week at New York.
The 18-year old Fagundez gave the Revolution the lead in the 61st minute, finishing off an exchange of well-executed passes from Lee Nguyen to Kelyn Rowe.
Nguyen made it 2-0 in the 71st minute, initiating the sequence with a run into the penalty box, and finishing off a rebound of a shot taken by Saer Sene.
New England snapped a five-game (0-3-2) winless streak and an eight-game (0-5-3) winless streak against Philadelphia.
Timbers 3, Sporting Kansas City 2 • In Kansas City, Kan., Rodney Wallace broke a tie in the 58th minute in Portland's victory over Sporting Kansas City.
Ryan Johnson had a goal and an assist for Portland (3-1-4), which extended its unbeaten streak to six matches and has won three of its last four. Wallace's winner came off an assist from Diego Chara.
Impact 2, Fire 0 • In Montreal, Andres Romero and Marco Di Vaio scored in the second half, lifting Montreal past Chicago.
Montreal (5-1-1) improved to 3-0-1 at home and won for the first time since beating visiting New York on March 23.
Crew 3, United 0 • In Columbus, Ohio, Dominic Oduro, Josh Williams and Federico Higuain scored in the first half to help Columbus beat D.C. United after a videoboard fire delayed the start 50 minutes.
The teams were warming up when the blaze broke out in the top of the videoboard in a speaker cabinet above the south stands about 25 minutes before the scheduled kickoff. Fans were cleared from the area and no one was injured, team president Mark McCullers said.
FC Dallas 2, Whitecaps 2 • In Vancouver, British Columbia, Kekuta Manneh and Camilo scored 3 minutes apart to give Vancouver the 2-tie with MLS-leading FC Dallas.
The 18-year-old Manneh, who subbed in during the 54th minute for Jun Marques Davidson, pulled the Whitecaps within one off a rebound, and Camilo tied it in the 75th minute on a shot that deflected off a defender. —
