Utah State Chari Hawkins, a multi-event athlete in women's track and field, was named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

This is the sophomore's first outdoor WAC Athlete of the Week honor. She's won the indoor award twice.

Hawkins shattered the USU record in the women's heptathlon with a point total of 5,441 at the California Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays Combined Events this past weekend. The previous USU record in the heptathlon was 5,304 points.

Hawkins also moved into fourth-place in school history in the long jump with a leap of 5.95 meters (19-feet, 6.25 inches), while also entering a tie for fourth-place in the Aggie record books in the high jump after clearing 1.76m (5-09.25).
